Many of our newer parents to tournaments have asked about signining up for a United States Chess Federation (USCF) ID #. To do this, you would have to go to the US Chess Federation website (www.uschess.org) and follow the links along the left hand side. USCF ID#'s are a method for children to compare their "rating" and strength versus other players. Some tournaments require this, some do not. However, we have been seeing much more of a demand to be certified to participate in local and national tournaments.
